THE BALDWIN SCHOOL

CLIENT: The Baldwin School

TYPE: Recreation

LOCATION: Bryn Mawr, PA

STATUS: Completed Spring 2026

Located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, The Baldwin School was in need for a sports field for their active students. In past years, students needed to travel to other schools to utilize play. For their new era of play, the school engaged our team to create a unique viewing space for their new addition. Surrounded by 90 year old cherry trees and the breathtaking stone school beyond, the new viewing area nestles right into the existing grade and aligns with the new Baldwin Turf Logo. The viewing platform uses a dark grey stone palette for bench seating, twelve foot wide stone treads, a bluestone plaza with native Wissahickon schist walls that echo the school’s historic architecture, and low lighting to create an ambient scene. Native landscaping and tree preservation efforts are key features of the design, including ongoing tree tagging and protection of the school’s 80+ year-old cherry trees. Our team took the viewing area that can be utilized by spectators and also created areas for outdoor education for the students and teachers.
