ENTRANCE IMPROVEMENTS AND PATIO AT 2621 VAN BUREN AVENUE

The Stuart team was tasked with providing an improved multi-door entrance and outdoor terrace area for this retrofit project. The new facade is complimented by an allee of upright sweetgums, a hidden accessible ramp for universal access, a dense and colorful perennial palette, and pedestrian light bollards that create an ambient light setting.
Working with the architectural team, we were able to create a seamless indoor/outdoor relationship that allows one to appreciate the patio, while still working indoors. The multi-use terrace is laid with a custom gray paver that shimmers as the light crosses the building facade. With a pop of color from the furnishings and perennials, it provides an identity feature for the tenants. However, the star of this patio design is the sculptural, yet useful Twig benches that create opportunities for seating and buffer the below streetscape.
